Frequently Asked Questions . . .
What's included?
1. We include a professional scan of your photo.
2. We include minor retouching, exposure correction, and sharpening when necessary.
3. We create the watercolor or oil rendition you specify. Renditions can be highly customized by adjusting color intensity, changing the sharpness or softness of the image, adding a custom artistic border, treating various elements in the photo differently, and applying various kinds of brush strokes to create the desired effect.
4. We archive the digital image file for you, so if you need a reprint 10 days or 10 years from now it will be available.
5. And finally, you get the print on the medium of your choice (Giclee media, Arches Watercolor, Archival Phorade Matte, Silk Fabric, or Artist Canvas). A sample swatch of our different media is available free upon request.
How do I care for my digital print?
Once it is framed do not position the print where sunlight will beam down on it for hours. Do not try to clean with water, glass cleaner, or any other liquids. Use a soft dust brush. If your print should become damaged a replacement print will at least cost you less than the original.
How do I send my photo?
Prints and artwork should be sandwiched between cardboard. Slides, transparencies, and negatives should be protected adequately for mailing. Bubble envelopes work pretty good. If sending via postal service are mailing address is: P.O. Box 810, Pine Grove, CA 95665. For UPS/FedX our shipping address is: 14401 Tobacco Road, Pine Grove, CA 95665. If your photos are important to you, a UPS tracking number helps, or getting delivery confirmation from the PO for postal delivery. Insurance is not going to help much because no amount of insurance is going to replace an irreplaceable photo.
How do these prints compare to the competition?
The Epson 7600 and 9600 printers are considered the standard for print quality in the industry. We specifically match the Epson Ultrachrome inks with paper media that is fade-resistant, water resistant, smudge-resistant, and offers outstanding color and image definition. Before you buy you know exactly what inks and what paper is used for your print. If you are worried about print fading check fade-resistance tests conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research (wilhelm-research.com). This company is the authority for digital print fade testing. Then, check our competition and see what inks and papers they use, and check Wilhelm Imaging to see how their prints perform.
What if I don't like the print or it isn't what I expected?
If the problem is ours, we will correct it and replace the print. If we are working from a low quality original print we will let you know what to expect in a photo enlargement. And sometimes customers send us a processed half-toned photo (from a magazine, for example). You usually get some loss of color and definition from this type of photo.
What if I want more reprints later?
We archive your digital images for long term storage. One version is usually kept on a hard drive, and a second version on CD. So, your digital imags will always be available for any future reprints.
